From Klaipėda: Christmas Night Tour

According to Libertas Klimka: The tree became a universal home decoration, the real Christmas joy of families only around mid -19th century, when Prince Albert of England in 1840 prepared a Christmas surprise for his wife Queen Victoria - the palace was decorated with a green tree, smelling like a true winter forest. Because the prince was born in Germany, he knew the traditions of the old continent. The Christmas tree tradition began to spread widely through the palaces and estates of the nobles. It was first mentioned in Lithuanian writings in 1853. the future poet and bishop Antanas Baranauskas, a famous Lithuanian author, saw a decorated Christmas tree in a tsar’s house and wrote about it in his diary...

You will start the Christmas tree night tour in Palanga. Last year in Palanga Grafai Tiškevičiai avenue, a twelve-meter long tree was decorated with Christmas toys and an impressive number of holiday lights. In order to create a Christmas tree that shared the Christmas mood and at the same time was natural, the Palanga tree was branched, not only the framework of the tree, but also its branches were decorated with natural spruces, that swayed gently in the wind. Last year, Palanga created the image of a gingerbread-scented Christmas tree.

After viewing the Christmas tree in Palanga, you will continue the journey in Kretinga. Last year, the Christmas tree was dedicated to children's Christmas wishes. More than 700 branches were used to create a 10-meter-high tree, and 240 branches were used to decorate it. The tree was decorated with gold and red toys, several dozen star-shaped decorations, 3000 LED flashes and 6000 LED lights. You will enjoy the festively decorated city, have a chat and drink some tea with ginger cookie.

You will continue the Christmas tree night tour in Plungė. Last year, it was like a fairy tale, sparkling with bright toys. People from Plungė were invited to be captured on the decorations themselves. The company that decorated the tree made sure that the names of people or companies would appear on the decorations. When they came to the square, a game was waiting for them - to find the toy with their name.

After Plungė, you will go to Telšiai. Last year, the capital of Samogitia region responsibly and carefully decorated its city. Each branch of the tree is decorated with bright, warm-colored sparkling Christmas lights. After a break of many years, the tradition has been revived: the telecommunications tower standing on the hill in the city center has turned into a symbolic Christmas tree. How will Telšiai surprise us this year?

While discussing and flipping through your already made photos of all the cities, you will travel to Šiauliai, where last year the theme of angels was chosen as the decorations of the Christmas tree. The Christmas tree was decorated with a garland of about 1400 meters of LED lights, 600 bubbles of various sizes and colors and more than 200 other decorative toys. The tree was filled with angels, snowflakes, stars, puppies and other cute decorations.

  A little tired, but still with a big smile on your faces, you will go home...
