Panemunė road: honey tasting – Panemunė castle – Raudonė castle – Veliuona – Raudondvaris

On the sightseeing trip you will firstly go to a valley with beautiful scenery, where you will taste honey, sip tea and enjoy gingerbread pie. During the educational program you will learn about the types of honey, its healing properties, and you will taste according to the flowering time of plants (spring flowers, raspberries, linden trees, etc.) collected bee honey.

Next, during this sightseeing bus trip, you will visit one of the most beautiful residences in Lithuania - the Renaissance-style Panemunė (Vytėnai) Castle, which stands on the banks of the Nemunas River. You will take part in a tour where you will get to know the life of the castle almost 400 years ago. You will learn about the daily life of the castle owners, their relationships. During the excursion, you will also look around the picturesque surroundings from the castle tower, see the castle prison cell and in the 18th century restored  kitchen.

While traveling, along the Nemunas River you will see the red towers of the Raudonė Castle. You will climb the 33.5 meter tower, where opens up the beautiful Panemunė view. Historians research says that it was a former private residence. After the Battle of Žalgiris, all the castles of Panemunė lost their strategic importance, Raudonė Castle was revived for a second life when Nemunas became a trade route in the 16th-17th centuries. 16th century At the end of the 19th century, the Prussian forest merchant Krišpinas Kiršensteinas rebuilt the former castle into a Renaissance-style palace.

Lunch: soup + hot chicken dish (if you don‘t want lunch, or if you prefer a vegetarian dish, please indicate this when registering, otherwise the general order will be made).

During the bus trip, while admiring nature, you will go to Veliuona, a small town surrounded by legends and folk tales. The mound standing on the bank of the Nemunas is also called the tomb of Duke Gediminas. It is believed that for the first time enemies used a firearm and killed Gediminas. And that‘s why he was also buried here. Tour of the town.

At the end of this sightseeing trip you will visit Raudondvaris manor. Each manor is like a book,  which pages consist of the fates and stories of parks, various structures and the people who lived in them...
