Weekend sightseeing trip: exclusive, annual Fishermen's festival "Palangos stinta" with a visit to the Amber museum

You will start your journey by visiting a wonderful museum, where the exhibits will not leave you indifferent. Here you will take part in an excursion led by a museum guide who will tell you more about the amber objects in the museum and the history of their discovery. The exposition is full of amber articles and raw pieces of amber.

During the weekend trip, you will have a tour in an open-air botanical park with a local guide. This park is concisered one of the most beautiful and richest parks in Lithuania. The main base of this park is a former relict pine forest. Paths are expertly laid out, flower beds are installed on the sites. During this tour, you will walk around the park with a guide, in the territory of the park there are 8 buildings of various purposes, 7 sculptures, many forms of small architecture, you will also see a lourde, which is built in the supposed places of Mary's apparitions and you‘ll hear interesting stories.

During the weekend bus trip you will have the opportunity to take part in the authentic "Palangos stinta" festival, organized every year on the second weekend of February. During the celebration you will be able to get acquainted with the local fishing traditions, history, crafts and culinary heritage. On a one-day trip, on the most important street of the city - Basanavičiaus street, many traders will be waiting for you on the street, offering a variety of fried smelts, cucumber-scented smelts, traditional refreshments for fishermen and guests. Throughout the day, you can taste smelts prepared in various ways, watch and participate in various competitions and watch the championship of smelt grilling.
